part i.
Character name: Xas
Fandom: The Vintner's Luck/The Angel's Cut
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Angel
Character powers: See his wiki page. The most notable part is that he's immortal and, for the most part, indestructible - except that I decided he's not immune to magic, because I didn't want him to be invulnerable.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
It's acceptable, and he's as susceptible as your average stubborn humanoid.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
Go for it. He doesn't have any preventative measures. His mind is very busy but generally well-ordered. In a panic, it tends to clear out rather than get more crowded.
He has about 4,000 years of memories and some of them are upsetting. The ones he is disturbed by involve people he loves dying entirely natural deaths, losing his wings, the war in Heaven, interacting with a couple happy human souls in Heaven, and being dropped out of an airplane. Other things, such hanging out with the Devil, observing sad human souls in Hell, speaking directly to God, and watching some pretty brutal human wars - those don't bother him, but might bother a third party.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Yep! And I don't use italicized/direct thoughts very much when I write, but that doesn't mean they're not there, so if you have a telepath and would like to know exactly what he's thinking, just ask.
Also, his thoughts are, at the best of times, maybe half in English; the rest is a mix of his native language, French, and a few others. If your telepath is subject to language barriers, his mind might be kind of confusing.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Go for it. His emotions - well. He has the emotional maturity of a 22-year-old but the emotional tenacity of a 4,000-year-old, so he tends to feel things quickly and strongly and then hold onto them for a very long time.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
(a) Not particularly and (b) not at all.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
His body language and facial expressions can be - aren't always, but can be - preternaturally calm and attentive, and he gives the impression of being very light on his feet despite not being especially graceful. This is because he is, literally, very light.
If his shirt is off, he has feathers and scarring on his back, a really gross scar on his side, a few scars elsewhere, and a tattoo-like marking on his side. Otherwise, he's handsome but nothing abnormal.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
Everything but telekinetic influence, which I would guess could move him or hold him still but not hurt him.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
Aside from the feathers, he has hollow bones, frothy blood, and is missing some inessential organs (like a full digestive tract). He weighs much less than a human his size would. And he's organic, but also physically indestructible - he doesn't just heal quickly, he doesn't bruise or tear at all, unless something beyond mere physical force is involved. For the sake of science, I'll say he's made of different stuff than a human is, albeit very similar, so if someone managed to scrape off a bit of him and look at it under a lens, he wouldn't look human.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
I am totally down with it, but if it is going to alter him permanently or for an extended period of time, I'd like to be asked first. I might have plans that require him to have all four of his limbs or something.
Vampires can try, but they probably won't be able to get their teeth into him, and if they somehow do it will be like drinking beer foam.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
He'll hate it, but it's fine with me.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
I have no idea how this even works. But if you need to know, talk to me about how your character usually perceives auras, and I'll figure it out.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
To his confusion and dismay, yes. But it can only affect him physically if it's direct; magically propelling a bullet won't work, but a spell that inflicts direct damage will.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
Yes.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
He has a history of wrath, jealousy, lust, and despair. He's also a glutton for knowledge, greedy with his mortal friends' time, and currently a little bit sulky and vain about his scars and wings/lack thereof.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Sure.
part v.
1. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
Knock yourself out.
2. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
In the unlikely event that he has canonmates... Sure.
3. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
I would prefer not to have graphic depictions of violence and/or sexual assault sprung on me without notice. Otherwise, as long as there is a mutual OOC understanding that it is not okay, I am down with characters being terrible and/or troubled.
4. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
Nope!
